FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Greenscape To Host Family-Friendly Tree Festival In Celebration of Jacksonville’s Arbor Day
March 24, 2018
Organization to give away thousands of trees on first-come, first-served basis

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (February, 2018) Greenscape of Jacksonville, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching Jacksonville through planting, protecting and promoting trees, invites the Jacksonville community to the Second Annual “Greenscape Tree Festival.” The family-focused fundraising event will take place March 24th, Jacksonville’s Official Arbor Day, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.

The Tree Festival replaces Greenscape’s annual tree sale. Instead of selling trees, the organization plans to give free trees to attendees on a first-come, first-served basis. Activities will include children’s arts and crafts, a petting zoo, entertainment and educational talks on trees and the environment. A dog adoption opportunity will be presented by the Jacksonville Humane Society because dogs really love trees. Specially selected vendors will be featured onsite.

The Greenscape Tree Festival and tree giveaway is so much more than a fun Saturday event — it’s a chance to empower the public to assist in the reforestation of their neighborhoods,” said Anna Dooley, Greenscape’s Executive Director. “We recognize the value in having an abundance of green life in our city, especially after Hurricane Irma destroyed thousands of Jacksonville’s trees. We hope families will learn something about their ability to impact the environment in a positive way while they enjoy the festivities.”

Funding for this program was made possible in part by JEA, CSX, HDR, THE BAKER FAMILY FUND, THE FLORIDA TIMES UNION, GATE PETROLEUM COMPANY, WJXT- CHANNEL 4, OE&S, ANHEUSER BUSCH, TRU-GREEN, THE ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION, THE ALLIANCE OF COMMUNITY TREES and THE FLORIDA FOREST SERVICE. Special recognition also to The Mandarin Rotary Club, The Bartram Rotary Club, The West Jacksonville Rotary, The Rotary Club of Jacksonville, The San Marco Rotary, The Rotary Club of North Jacksonville, and The Rotary of Southpoint.
